Doug Crook

Doug Crook is a retired banker whose career included postings in the U.K., U.S.A. and Canada.  Originally from Winnipeg, his formal education was in the field of business (B Comm. 1968, University of Manitoba) but he has drawn and painted since early childhood. Extensive travel has given him an appreciation for a broad range of artwork.Since retiring from banking in 2012, Doug has been able to devote his energy to his lifelong passion for art.  A longtime resident of Calgary, Doug is constantly inspired by the beauty of the western Canadian landscape which affords an endless source of subject matter. Doug’s wife is a native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where the couple spends their summers.  There he concentrates on capturing the beauty of the East Coast, its picturesque towns and villages, local industry and the entire coastal experience.

Doug is known for his colourful landscapes and maritime paintings, as well as figurative work and pet portraits.  He uses brightly saturated acrylics and vivid brush strokes to bring his scenes to life.
